Learning Support Teacher (LST)
Job Description
The Grande Prairie Public School Division is seeking an experienced teacher with an inclusive mindset to join the Division's Multi-Disciplinary Team as the school-based Learning Support Teacher (LST). This team supports school administration and educators in collaboration with the Director of Inclusive Learning and the Educational Programmers. This position may include a portion of classroom teacher FTE.
Qualifications:
A minimum of five (5) years of experience
Valid Alberta Teaching Certificate (or eligible to apply)
Bachelor's Degree in Education
Clear Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Check and Child Intervention Record Check
Assets:
Master's Degree in Education/Special Education with course work and experience in assessment (Level B) and positive behaviour supports
Experience and training in Early Literacy Intervention
Experience and training in Universal Design for Learning (UDL)
Skills and Competencies:
Demonstrates recent experience in supporting students with special education needs, including development and implementation of IPPs and coordination of multidisciplinary services
Demonstrates skills in planning for diverse learning needs
Demonstrates skills and knowledge in early literacy and a strong understanding of balanced literacy, reading, and writing
Possesses an understanding of current inclusive education expectations and practices
Demonstrates the ability to work well with individuals and groups of teachers in a collaborative manner with a focus on student-centered decision-making.
