Job Description
JOB TITLE: Lead Technical Planner Structural
REPORTS TO: Structural Engineering and Planning Manager
SUMMARY
Works with Technical Planning and Engineering team to develop work plans and technical work instruction packages for production/execution teams and forecasts labor and material costs for all projects based on analyses of project specifications, pricing schedules, and historical data.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Production Planning
Conduct Structural Inspections
Obtain IMIA structural inspector certification
Identify, document and report deficiencies found onboard vessels
Work with production team to develop work plan
Develop work packages for production use
Review work specification to develop work instructions for trades use
Interpret NAVSEA and customer drawings, standards and specifications
Determine Objective Quality Evidence requirements
Material Planning
Develop Job Material List from technical references and drawings
Determine material sizes and quantities required
Resolve technical specification conflicts or suitable substitutes
Assist purchasing with finding appropriate vendors
Estimating
Gather job details and compile data to estimate production and material cost
Review drawings, specifications, proposals and other documentation to support cost estimates
Consider raw materials, labor, equipment, and transportation for estimate
Assist in determining necessary resources for projects based on cost estimates and budget constraints
Review estimates as requested and analyzes established standards for cost reduction
Other duties as assigned
