As a member a windows site reliability engineer supporting an enterprise production environment , you’ll own a particular infrastructure challenge. Operational support, design and document systems, including writing automation scripts among some of the tasks assigned. Undertake measured, methodical, troubleshooting of complicated systems under pressure. Partake in an on-call rotation alongside the engineers who build our production backend
Job Description:
o Systems administration of a large enterprise production environment consisting mainly of windows platform and some Linux based servers
o Participate in defining infrastructure from inception and design, through deployment, operation and continuous refinement
o Undertake routine maintenance of the systems, ticket ownership, patching, backups and restores
o Participate in weekend DR and high availability tests
o Respond to incidents, join problem resolution calls and ensure client impact is minimized
o Support services before they go live through activities such as system design, deployment automation, capacity planning and provisioning
o Maintain services once they are live by measuring and monitoring availability, latency and overall system health
o Scale systems through mechanisms like automation
o Evolve systems by pushing for changes that improve reliability and velocity
o Provides input to a Risk Management Plan that will anticipate reliability-related, and non-reliability-related risks that could adversely impact plant operation
o Other parameters that define operating condition, reliability and costs of assets
o Provides technical support to production, maintenance management and technical personnel
o Applies value analysis to repair/replace, repair/redesign, and make/buy decisionsCore Qualifications
o Minimum 15 years’ experience in as Linux/UNIX/Windows systems administration
o Preferred and optional 2-4 years’ experience in a role supporting cloud-based solutions or as an SRE
o Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
o Experience in one or more of the following: Python, Go, Perl, PowerShell or shell scripting
o Experience with Unix/Linux operating systems internals and administration Root-cause and Root-Cause Failure Analysis Failure Reporting, Analysis and Corrective Action Systems
Preferred qualifications:
o Expertise in supporting, designing, analyzing and troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems
o Ability to apply systematic approach to solve problems with a sense of ownership and focus
o Strong communication skills with the ability to articulate technical details to different audiences
In this position you will have the following responsibilities:
o Supporting windows administration functions of a large enterprise windows platform environment
o You are able to communicate technical ideas to non-technical team members
Required qualifications for this position include:
o Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience is required
o 10+ years of combined systems architecture experience across multiple OS’s, languages and frameworks or equivalent experience
o 5 years’ experience working with firewalls, preventive controls, detective controls, corrective controls and information security controls to protect the confidentiality, integrity and/or availability of information and/or applications
o 5+ years’ experience supporting multi-tier web applications
o Advanced experience working with server and application hardening best practices
o Advanced support experience within an operating platform, Windows or Unix
o Advanced scripting experience in multiple languages to automate everything
o Strong working knowledge of networking & load balancing protocols
o Strong analytical and problem solving skills
o Strong experience with a variety of monitoring tools and concepts
o Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to document and communicate technical solutions at all levels
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
o Security, Cloud or system administration certification
