Lead Project Engineer – Wind Farms
Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Lead Project Engineer to support the delivery of large‑scale wind farm projects across Australia. This role is responsible for managing engineering activities across the full project lifecycle, from early design and planning through construction, commissioning and handover.
The position works closely with project managers, site teams, contractors, designers and regulatory stakeholders to ensure engineering deliverables are completed safely, compliantly, on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and coordinate engineering activities for wind farm and balance‑of‑plant works
Act as the primary technical interface between design teams, contractors and site personnel
Manage engineering deliverables, RFIs, design reviews, technical documentation and approvals
Support construction, installation, commissioning, energisation and handover activities
Ensure compliance with Australian standards, grid requirements and regulatory obligations
Manage technical risks, change management and engineering budgets
Provide technical support during site visits and construction phases
Required Core Skills & Experience
Tertiary qualification in Mechanical, Electrical or Civil Engineering
Minimum 7 years’ experience in project engineering and/or project management
Demonstrated experience supporting large infrastructure, energy or wind farm projects
Strong understanding of construction methodologies and engineering project delivery
Experience working with contractors, consultants and multidisciplinary site teams
Ability to review technical documentation, drawings and specifications
Strong communication, coordination and stakeholder management skills
Sound knowledge of safety, quality and regulatory compliance requirements
Proficient in standard engineering and office software tools
Willingness to travel and work on site as required, including working at heights
Desirable
Previous wind farm construction or renewable energy project experience
Exposure to grid connection, commissioning or energisation activities
Experience working in site‑based project environments
