Lead Automation Engineer

Position OverviewOverviewThis role is a for an automation engineer to lead a small team in the development of automations and integrations relating to the provisioning and lifecycle management of virtual servers and databases.Our team's deliverables areThe team currently provide an orchestration/automation technology used in the provisioning and lifecycle management of virtual servers and databases via VMWARE. This software is delivered within the SDLC framework as laid down by the bank. The automation technology is based on the banks application and PAAS platform (Java, Tomcat).Your Key Responsibilities: The key responsibilities of this role will be to act as principle engineer (team lead) working with a small team of software engineers to develop the automation framework and implement new application integrations and automations as and when required by VHS product management. This will require interaction with the various teams who impalement the sub-systems you will be automating to determine processes and API capabilities etc. These will then be documented so that all stakeholders can sign-off. Once designs are completed and documented the software will be developed in accordance with the banks SDLC processes and tools. Regular (monthly) releases will be maintained to cope with the dynamic nature of infrastructure automation.Your Skills and Experience:A candidate for this role must have a minimum of 5 years' experience in developing a variety of applications in Java and should have particularly expertise in both client and server side REST APIs, multi-threading, connection pooling, CDI, MQ, relational databases and micro-services.The Java development experience will have been obtained within a context of Cloud Automation, virtualization, infrastructure, CMDB, ITIL, Windows and Linux as this will be the principle area of engagement.The candidate should also have additional skills in SQL, GIT, Scripting, UI Design, networking and security ( SSH/HTTPS/TLS etc)How You'll Lead: if requiredYour wealth of experience will put you in a position to guide and coach less experienced engineers and your ability to see the big picture will allow you to make the right decisions to be able to direct the work of your fellow engineers.
