Job Description
Provide legal support across a mix of litigation and dispute-related matters
Clario connects Australian-qualified lawyers with leading in-house legal teams on a flexible basis.
Our team has deep legal industry experience in lawyer engagement, legal operations, technology and customer experience.
Our people have worked with 65% of Australia’s leading corporate and government organisations and are experts at providing seconded lawyers for special projects or helping in-house legal teams manage peaks and troughs in demand.
The Role:
We are looking for a in-house lawyer to join our client in Melbourne on an immediate start, short-term contract for 3 months (with high potential for extension).
Our client is an iconic Australian service provider, with an established and supportive in-house legal team. This role will suit a lawyer with a mix of litigation and general commercial experience, who is comfortable stepping into a fast-paced environment and getting across a varied workload quickly.
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys variety, can work autonomously, and is happy to roll up their sleeves to provide practical support where it is needed most.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide legal support across a mix of litigation and dispute-related matters.
Assist with a range of general commercial legal work, including contract review, drafting and advice.
Support internal stakeholders on day-to-day legal issues, balancing risk with commercial and operational priorities.
Help manage matters efficiently in a busy, fast-moving environment.
Draft, review and negotiate a variety of legal documents and correspondence.
Work collaboratively with the broader legal and business teams to deliver timely, practical advice.
Step into matters quickly and provide hands-on support with minimal ramp-up time.
About You:
An Australian qualified, and admitted lawyer with experience across both litigation and general commercial matters.
Able to start immediately or on short notice.
Confident operating in a short-term contract role where flexibility and adaptability are key.
Strong drafting, communication and stakeholder management skills.
Comfortable working both independently and as part of a broader team.
A practical, down-to-earth approach and willingness to jump in where needed.
Based in Melbourne or able to work from Melbourne for the duration of the assignment (hybrid).
