The Opportunity

The Department of Parliamentary Services-Landscape Services is looking to fill the vacant position ofLandscape Scheduler.


The Landscape Scheduler reports to the Assistant Director of Landscape Services and provides day‑to‑dayworkforce planning, sequencing of works and alignment of resources to operational priorities and events.


Key duties include planning and coordinating landscape maintenance activities, developing work schedules,supporting financial and procurement activities and maintaining accurate records and systems including workorder data and asset and inventory information.

The ideal candidate will have strong organisational skills, effective communication skills, experience in procurement activities, with qualifications and/or knowledge in landscape/horticulture practises.


Job Specific Requirements:


The successful applicant will be required to obtain and maintain a Baseline Vetting (Protected/Restricted) security clearance.

Immediate supervisor: Assistant Director Landscape Services

Duty Statement

Under limited/general direction undertake duties in accordance with the agreed standards for the specified classification. The duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:


Plan and coordinate short-term landscape maintenance activities and minor projects across Parliament House grounds.
Develop and manage work schedules, ensuring resources, access requirements, materials and sequencing of works are appropriately identified and allocated.
Ensure work orders are complete and accurate, including required procedures, access arrangements and supporting documentation.
Support financial and procurement activities, including raising purchase requests, goods receipting, invoice reconciliation and cost centre monitoring.
Liaise with suppliers and contractors to coordinate delivery of materials and services, ensuring compliance with site access and security requirements.
Promote and maintain the highest standards of safety across all operations, ensuring compliance with Work Health and Safety (WHS) policies and upholding the Parliamentary Service Values.
Maintain accurate records and systems, including work order data, asset and inventory information.
Provide reporting and administrative support to the Assistant Director and Manager, Landscape Services.


Employees of DPS are required to be able, and to be seen to be able, to provide professional advice and services to all Senators and Members without favour or prejudice.


Selection Criteria

Strong organisational and scheduling skills, with the ability to prioritise and coordinate competing landscape maintenance activities to meet service standards and deadlines.
Demonstrated effective communication skills, both written and verbal, including the ability to prepare work programs, schedules and work order documentation, while maintaining accurate records and data, including asset and inventory information, and undertaking basic reporting and analysis.
