Job Type: Temporary, Full-Time (Contract- 10 Months)

Job Overview:

We are currently seeking a detail-oriented and self-motivated. Laboratory Technician with a background in food chemistry to join a dynamic team in Montreal. This temporary position supports quality control operations in a food production environment. Reporting to the Quality Food Safety Specialist, the technician will perform chemical and physical analyses on flour and wheat, maintain quality records, and support internal and external communication related to product quality.

Key Responsibilities:
• Conduct chemical and physical testing on flour and wheat samples.
• Maintain accurate documentation and support quality assurance programs.
• Collaborate with millers and plant operators to ensure product standards.
• Communicate quality-related findings internally and externally when required.
• Utilize software tools for data entry, reporting, and record-keeping.
• Adhere strictly to internal protocols and external regulatory requirements.
• Apply sound judgment and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced environment.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and food safety standards.

Qualifications:
• College diploma in food chemistry or a related field.
• Minimum 4 months of experience in a quality control laboratory.
• Familiarity with AACC methods, Brabender, and NIR devices is an asset.
• Experience with HACCP, food safety protocols, and HPLC is considered a plus.
• Previous work in a milling facility is an advantage.

Skills Competencies:
• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Proficiency in French (spoken and written); English is an asset.
• Competent in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Work Schedule:
• Rotating shifts: 7am–3pm, 3pm–11pm, and 11pm–7am.
• Two-week rotation between day and night shifts.
• Alternating weekly schedule:
• Week A: Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday, Sunday (48 hours)
• Week B: Monday, Thursday, Friday (36 hours)
• Initial training: 40 hours on day shift.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $32.82 - $32.82/hr.
