Bureau Veritas is looking for a Laboratory Technician to join our environmental laboratory in Montreal or Ste-Foy, QC.
Please note that this is a contract position until Mid-December. There is a possibility of extension (depending on business needs and your performance).
Your main responsibilities are:
General laboratory support including: washing glassware, archiving samples, weighing, homogenizing, etc.;
Perform simple sample preparation and manipulation procedures prior to analyses;
Ensure that cross contamination between samples and other materials does not occur;
Use summary reports to plan and organize work;
Ensure that deadlines are met;
Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) to ensure accuracy and quality of work;
Other related tasks.
You are an ideal candidate if you:
Have a diploma in science;
Have at least academic experience in a laboratory setting;
Have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment;
Have good time-management, communication, multi-tasking and priority setting skills;
Are dynamic, energetic, motivated and have a positive outlook.
Work conditions:
Work schedule: day, evening and weekend. You need to be available for different shifts.
You need to be available for overtime during the peak season (1-2h/day) from May to December including a 6th day during the week;
Please note that flexibility for overtime is required to meet business needs. It's important to note that overtime is not optional in this role. You will be expected to work the additional hours as directed by your supervisor, even if the need arises unexpectedly on a given day;
Status: Full time, 37.5h/week;
Ability to work your feet for long hours.
