Job description
Support laboratory operations at Chemetics Inc. (Worley Group), performing hands-on testing, analysis, and lab maintenance as a Laboratory Technician Co-Op Student.

Your Role:

Key responsibilities include:
• Supporting the daily operation of the laboratory, including safety audits and maintenance.
• Carrying out assigned laboratory projects and related development activities.
• Performing quality control testing on incoming materials.
• Maintaining and organizing accurate test and inventory records.
• Assisting in the development and refining of testing procedures and methodologies.
• Assisting with and organizing small scale test equipment set-up.
• Preparing technical reports and maintaining accurate test records.
• Ordering, receiving, and shipping various laboratory equipment and supplies.
• Reporting to the Lab Supervisor and working on-site in Burnaby, British Columbia.
• Engaging in hands-on work, including using tools to build or maintain units and performing chemical analysis by titration, spectrophotometer, etc.

About You:

The ideal candidate will have:
• Current enrollment in an accredited Canadian university under a Co-Op program in Chemistry, Engineering, or a technical field (must be referred by the university Co-Op office).
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
• Comfort using hand tools and working with laboratory equipment.
• Ability to analyze and problem solve with equipment/test set-up.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills to multitask effectively.
• Ability to manage workload under time constraints to meet tight deadlines.
• Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to move items up to 30 lbs in weight.
• Experience in a lab environment conducting tests.
• Proficiency in MS Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Safety-minded approach and understanding of laboratory safety.
• Experience with instrumentation and programming is an asset.

Compensation Benefits:
• Salary range for applicants based in British Columbia: CAD 26.00 to CAD 35.00 per hour, determined by qualifications, experience, location, internal pay equity, and market conditions.
