Work type: Full Time (Permanent)38 hours per week

Schedule: Ability to participate in a 24/7 roster. Various shifts between Monday to Sunday and Public Holidays, as required.

About the role
We are seeking an individual who is highly motivated to become part of a passionate and engaged team. This position is responsible for the processing of specimens for Laboratory testing as well
as preparation and dispatch of specimens to Core laboratories. The lab assistant role also performs general laboratory duties, equipment maintenance, administrative tasks and responding to phone enquires in a professional manner and escalating them as required.Your key responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, the following:
Routine receipting and processing of specimens; including operation and maintenance of analysers
Pre and post analytical specimen handling
Identification and prioritisation of urgent specimens
Filing and storage of specimens and data entry
Assisting Scientists in the Lab as required
Continuous learning of processing requirements of different types of samples for different tests
Staying up to date with processing updates
Respond to result, sample requirements and general queries
Identifying and resolving problems on at the pre-analytic stage

About you
To be considered for this position, you will need to have a great blend of skills, including:
Specimen processing and data entry experience
Excellent customer service and communication skills
The ability to cope and thrive in a busy environment
Ability to work with minimal supervision and work as a team
Understanding the importance of following procedures accurately
A willingness to adhere to departmental and organisational policies and procedures
Previous laboratory experience and exposure to medical terminology would be desirable, but not essential
Certificate III in Laboratory Techniques or Pathology Collection is desirable
