Conduct chemical and physical analyses at GE Aerospace Wales, a leading jet engine maintenance facility.
Your role
Key responsibilities include:
• Conducting routine chemical and physical analysis of chemical tanks and water supplies in line with OEM ASTM standards.
• Assessing results for applicability, validity, and conformance to specifications and statistical trends.
• Using various analytical equipment and displaying knowledge of traditional wet chemistry test methods.
• Maintaining and routinely calibrating laboratory equipment.
• Performing qualitative and quantitative analysis of fuels and oils according to OEM and ASTM standards.
• Designing, planning, and conducting key laboratory testing to support internal and external GE departments.
• Planning and writing technique sheets for all engine types.
• Understanding chemicals and associated hazards for site-wide etching solutions.
• Undertaking airworthiness cleanliness checks of engine parts by microscope analysis.
• Demonstrating confidence and competency in ad hoc tasks and time management.
• Analyzing metallic-coated products with an understanding of material science.
• Preparing samples and determining evaluation criteria for thermal spray coating integrity.
• Performing tensile bond and hardness tests on thermal spray coatings.
• Ordering and controlling analytical grade chemicals in the lab stock.
• Making decisions based on specialized knowledge, both independently and as part of a team.
About you
The ideal candidate will have:
• Ability to conduct chemical and physical analyses.
• Knowledge of OEM ASTM standards.
• Experience with analytical equipment and wet chemistry test methods.
• Skills in maintaining and calibrating laboratory equipment.
• Understanding of material science and chemical hazards.
• Competency in sample preparation and evaluation criteria.
• Confidence in decision-making and time management.
