Lab Technician

Job description
Key Responsibilities:
• Following good laboratory practices
• Preparation of media, solutions, buffers etc
• Record keeping and stock maintenance
• Maintenance and calibration of instruments (pH meters, PCR machines, etc.)
• Reporting status of tasks at hand both verbally and in writing
• Preparation of SOPs, COSHH etc
• Recording data in lab books
• Following the Aseptic technique
• Preparing bacterial and viral cultures

• Easily adapts and performs new protocols / tasks that are continuously updated
• Adapts to local policies and procedures
• Deals with people from a variety of backgrounds
• Works effectively under tight deadlines
• Proactive with a can-do attitude.
• Relates different pieces of information
• Recognises when help is required

Education/ Experience
• Proven experience of working in a laboratory
• Work experience in a laboratory role in industry and BSc or equivalent in biological sciences would be desirable
