Position/Department Summary:
Performs computer entry and pre analytical processing of specimens entering lab. Provides timely and courteous results and inquiry information to providers for routine questions.
Key Responsibilities:
Examinations and Procedures:
Performing pre-analytical specimen processing includes stamping in, verifying I.D., identifying tests, and evaluating specimen quality and appropriate test set up.
Performing computer order entry and inquiry functions.
Providing courteous and timely customer service to providers calling into the lab.
Performing, documenting, and evaluating daily QC and follows procedure when QC is out of range.
Performing routine operation and maintenance of instrumentation in the work area such as centrifuges, refrigerators, and freezers.
Maintaining workplace in a neat and orderly fashion.
Continuously monitors specimen workflow. Ensures quick response for STAT and other timed tests.
Participating in departmental continuous improvement projects as necessary.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
High School/GED required
Bachelor’s degree is preferred in science-based STEM disciplines
Experience:
3 months of work experience.
Shift/hours:
Monday, 3:00pm – 11:30pm
Saturday and Sunday – 10:00am – 10:30pm
