Job Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and dynamic Legal Associate with 1 to 3 years of experience specializing in Intellectual Property Rights (IPR). The ideal candidate will have experience in handling trademark, copyright, patent, and other IP-related matters. The role involves assisting in both contentious and non-contentious IPR issues, advising clients on IP strategy, and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
• IPR Advisory and Strategy:
• Provide legal advice on the protection, enforcement, and commercialization of intellectual property, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, and designs.
• Assist clients in developing IP protection strategies tailored to their business needs.
• Advise on IP licensing, technology transfer agreements, and joint ventures related to intellectual property.
• Trademark, Patent, and Copyright Filings:
• Manage and assist in filing and prosecuting trademark, patent, and copyright applications domestically and internationally.
• Prepare and submit applications with IP offices, ensuring accuracy and compliance with the applicable laws.
• Monitor and manage renewal deadlines and other formalities for IP portfolios.
• IPR Litigation and Enforcement:• Engage with external consultants, technical experts, and investigators in cases of IP disputes or enforcement actions.
• IPR Training and Education:
• Assist in developing IP training materials for clients and internal teams to raise awareness of intellectual property rights and protection strategies.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in intellectual property law, and participate in seminars and conferences.
Required Qualifications:
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Law (LL.B. or equivalent). An LL.M. in Intellectual Property Law or a specialized certification in IPR is highly preferred.
• Experience: 1 to 3 years of experience in handling intellectual property matters in a law firm or corporate legal department, with a focus on IPR.
• License: Licensed to practice law in the relevant jurisdiction.
Skills and Competencies:
• Strong understanding of intellectual property law, including trademarks, copyrights, patents, designs, and trade secrets.
• Experience in handling IP filings, oppositions, and enforcement actions.
• Excellent legal research, drafting, and analytical skills, particularly in the field of IPR.
• Ability to manage multiple IP matters simultaneously and prioritize tasks effectively.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills for dealing with clients and other stakeholders.
• Proficiency with IP management software and research platforms
Preferred Qualifications:
• Previous experience in patent prosecution or litigation, particularly in a specialized industry such as pharmaceuticals, technology, or media.
• Familiarity with international IP laws, treaties, and cross-border IP protection strategies.
• Experience in negotiating IP licenses and technology transfer agreements.
