Junior Floral Designer
Alana's Flowers & Gifts is a family-owned floral shop proudly serving the Etobicoke community for over 40 years. We are seeking a talented and passionate Junior Floral Designer to join our team.
Position Overview
This role offers hours ranging from part-time to full-time, depending on seasonal demand and business volume. The ideal candidate is creative, reliable, and thrives in a fast-paced, high-end floral environment.
Availability Requirements
Must be available Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM
Must be available to work some weekends as required
Qualifications
Minimum 3 years of floral design experience in a busy, high-end flower shop
Strong knowledge of fresh flowers, floral care, and design techniques
Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining exceptional quality standards
Excellent attention to detail and strong customer service skills
Ability to create both traditional and contemporary floral arrangements
Experience using POS (Point of Sale) systems for sales transactions, order processing, and customer management
Comfortable handling phone orders, emails, and customer inquiries in a professional manner
Previous retail experience, preferably in a floral, gift, or luxury retail environment
Strong organizational and time-management skills
Ability to assist with daily shop operations, merchandising, inventory management, and maintaining store presentation
Experience managing multiple orders and priorities in a fast-paced environment
Knowledge of online order management is considered an asset

Interview Process
Selected candidates will be invited for an interview and will be required to complete a practical floral design assessment. This working interview is designed to demonstrate:
Floral knowledge
Design skills and creativity
Proper flower handling and care
Ability to work in a busy, high-end floral shop environment
Compensation
Compensation will be based on experience, skill level, and demonstrated floral design abilities.
