Role Overview
We are seeking an entry-level Customer Support Technician to provide Tier I software support for financial and budgeting systems used by a State of Florida agency. This role supports internal business users by diagnosing basic software issues, maintaining support records, assisting with report generation, and supporting modernization efforts involving both legacy mainframe systems and modern applications.
The ideal candidate is early in their IT career, eager to learn, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a structured, on-site government environment under general supervision.
Primary Responsibilities
Provide Tier I software support following documented procedures and checklists
Diagnose and resolve basic application issues; escalate complex issues appropriately
Enter and maintain accurate support data in tracking systems
Assist with debugging and troubleshooting in mainframe environments under supervision
Support conversion of legacy mainframe reports into modern software solutions
Assist with data integration and system modernization efforts
Collaborate with development teams on routine technical tasks
Participate in quality improvement activities and documentation efforts
Assist with testing system changes, including basic test scenarios and validation
Maintain and update automated reports used by internal offices
Communicate effectively with internal users to gather issue details and provide updates
Learn and support both legacy and modern platforms used by the agency
Required Education & Experience
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
OR equivalent technical training or work experience
0–1 year of IT experience in systems support or application support
Demonstrated basic troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Basic knowledge of application and reporting environments
Familiarity with relational databases and basic SQL concepts
Exposure to tools such as Visual Studio and SQL Server Management Studio
Awareness of legacy reporting tools (e.g., FOCUS/WebFOCUS) and willingness to learn
Understanding of data integration and report conversion concepts
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to document issues, workflows, and resolutions clearly
Ability to follow established procedures and support checklists
Ability to manage multiple tasks and work effectively in a team environment

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
