NOW HIRING: Junior Accountant
LOCATION: Centennial Carstar Summerside, Summerside, PEI
HOURS: Full time, Permanent. Monday - Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm
WAGE: $20.00 - $24.00 per hour + benefits (negotiable based on experience).
THE PERFECT FIT:
Centennial Carstar Summerside is looking for a detail-oriented and motivated Junior Accountant to join our growing accounting team! In this role, you will assist with financial reporting, reconciliations, and general accounting operations while gaining hands-on experience in dealership accounting. APPLICABLE SKILLS/ REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Experience with or exposure to AP/AR functions through internships, co-op placements, or coursework.
Strong data entry skills with high accuracy and attention to detail.
Basic understanding of accounting principles, particularly in relation to AP/AR processes.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., VLOOKUP, pivot tables) and Google Workspace tools.
Familiarity with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, SAP, or similar systems is an asset.
Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks to meet billing and payment deadlines.
Strong organizational skills and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving discrepancies.
Comfortable working with sensitive financial data and maintaining confidentiality.
Clear and professional communication skills for interacting with vendors, customers, and internal teams.
JOB TASKS:
Accounts Payable & Receivable: Process incoming and outgoing invoices, manage vendor payments and customer collections, and maintain accurate records of all AP/AR transactions.
Data Entry & Accuracy: Input and update financial data with a high level of accuracy using the company’s accounting systems.
Assist with Financial Statements: Support the preparation of balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports.
Bank and Account Reconciliations: Regularly reconcile bank accounts, vendor statements, and customer accounts to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies promptly.
Financial Reporting Support: Assist in the preparation and maintenance of financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, statements of cash flows, and retained earnings.
General Ledger & Journal Entries: Record and maintain accurate general ledger entries, including preparation of general journals and support for month-end and year-end closings.
Compliance & Documentation: Ensure compliance with internal policies and accounting standards. Maintain organized, timely, and accurate documentation to support audits and financial reporting requirements.
