ICT Security Consultant

Join our Downer Professional Services team and play a key role in delivering complex defence and national security projects that safeguard Australia’s future.

Downer Professional Services is comprised of two business units, our Technical, Advisory, and Capability consulting practice and Team Downer, a major service partner to Defence. Together, we are a multi-disciplinary advisory and delivery partner of choice for our clients in Defence and National Security.

We currently have an opportunity for an ICT Security Consultant in Canberra, ACT to work on Defence ICT security, accreditation and mission systems Joint (CAF16) projects.

What You’ll Do

This role offers a broad scope, with key role responsibilities including:

C onduct system Certification and Accreditation activities in accordance with ASD IRAP and Defence ICTSB requirements

Assess, audit and review system security controls, documentation, policies and procedures against Australian Government standards

Identify, analyse and escalate information security, cyber and business risks to support informed risk acceptance decisions

Assess system security architecture and services using structured, threat‑based modelling methodologies

Provide security guidance, training and stakeholder engagement to ensure consistent security compliance across ADF and CASG delivery teams

What You’ll Bring

Demonstrated experience in ICT security, accreditation and risk management within a Defence environment

Working knowledge of ASD ISM, PSPF, IRAP and Defence ICT security frameworks

Strong communication skills with the ability to engage technical, operational and senior stakeholders

Experience supporting Defence capability, acquisition or mission systems (Air C2 highly desirable)

Due to the nature of the work, you are required to currently hold and maintain a minimum NV1 or higher Security clearance as required by the Commonwealth. In some instances, compliance with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) requirements may also be an inherent requirement.
