Job Summary:

Eastern Drayage is seeking a dedicated and safety-conscious Yard Worker to join our team. This role involves handling materials, operating forklifts, assisting with rigging and slinging, and ensuring safe loading and unloading operations. The ideal candidate must be comfortable working in various weather conditions and following all safety guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:

Must have experience operating forklifts at a capacity of 35,000 lbs.
Emphasis on experience with loading and unloading steel pipe.
Handle tools and lashing materials as necessary.
Place or remove dunnage, including materials resting on transport surfaces or stacks of pipe.
Stay clear of all suspended loads during loading and discharge operations.
Hook and unhook lifting gear as required.
Understand and apply the fundamentals of rigging and slinging.
Operate forklifts safely and efficiently.
Dismantle and store rigging/slinging equipment after use.
Signal or verbally direct workers engaged in hoisting and moving loads to ensure worker and cargo safety.
Follow all safety protocols and guidelines.
Climb up or down containers to access materials.
Qualifications & Skills:

Minimum of 5 yrs specifically with experience in bulk commodities and out of gauge materials.
Prior experience in a yard or warehouse environment preferred.
Knowledge of rigging and slinging fundamentals.
Ability to operate forklifts (certification preferred or willingness to obtain).
Strong awareness of workplace safety procedures.
Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
Physical ability to climb, lift, and perform manual labor as needed.
Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $22.00 - $24.00 per hour
