Job Description
Job Overview: As an International Commodity Trader, you will be responsible for buying and selling various commodities, such as grains, oilseeds, metals, on international markets. You will analyze market trends, assess risks, negotiate contracts, and execute trades to maximize profitability and minimize losses.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Market Analysis: Monitor global commodity markets, economic indicators, geopolitical events, and supply-demand dynamics to identify trading opportunities and risks.
2. Risk Management: Assess market risks, including price volatility, currency fluctuations, and geopolitical factors, and develop strategies to mitigate risks and protect trading positions.
3. Trading Execution: Execute trades on international exchanges or over-the-counter markets, negotiate terms with counterparties, and ensure timely and accurate trade settlement.
4. Relationship Management: Cultivate and maintain relationships with suppliers, buyers, brokers, and other trading partners to facilitate trading activities and maximize market access.
5. Financial Analysis: Analyze financial data, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, to evaluate trading performance and identify areas for improvement.
6. Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, trading rules, and industry standards, including anti-money laundering (AML) and know your customer (KYC) requirements.
7. Reporting: Prepare regular reports on trading activities, market trends, and performance metrics for internal stakeholders, senior management, and regulatory authorities.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, business administration, or related field.
Previous experience in commodity trading, financial markets, or related fields preferred.
Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and make informed decisions.
Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Familiarity with trading platforms, risk management tools, and financial modelling techniques.
Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and thrive in a fast-paced
environment.
Knowledge of international trade regulations, commodity markets, and industry trends.
Professional certifications may be an advantage.
