Intermediate Software Developer- job post WiQ Technologies Inc.
Job Description
About WiQ
WiQ is a digital platform for waste and logistics compliance and chain of custody. We help shippers, transporters and receivers achieve transparency and traceability through the capture of clean, verifiable records at every step. We're a small, customer-obsessed team, and our purpose is simple: helping get the right waste to the right place.
About the role
Reporting to the Software Development Manager, as an Intermediate Software Developer on the WiQ team you'll own features end-to-end across a live web and mobile product built in TypeScript, React, React Native, Node.js and PostgreSQL on AWS. More often than not you'll be handed a problem rather than a specification - something a customer genuinely needs, with plenty of the detail still open. Working it out is the job: digging into the business rules, filling in the gaps with Product instead of waiting on them, shaping the solution, building it, testing it and standing behind it in production.
You won't be doing that alone. On a team this small you'll work closely with QA on how a feature should be tested and what “done” really means, with Product on what's worth building next, and with Customer Success when something isn't working. Quality is a shared job here, not a stage at the end.
What you'll do
Own features end-to-end across the stack (Node.js, TypeScript, React, React Native, PostgreSQL) - from a problem statement through design, build, test and release.
Work from problems, not specs: take a loosely-defined requirement, fill in the gaps, propose a solution and bring Product along - challenging what doesn't hold up rather than waiting to be handed an answer.
Think in whole flows: learn the business rules and the customer process behind a feature, and design for how it will really be used - including the edge cases nobody wrote down.
Use AI-assisted development tools to move faster and lift quality - putting the time they free up into analysis, product thinking, testing and review.
Make sound technical decisions within our established architecture, and know when a problem is big enough to pull in a senior developer.
Investigate and resolve production issues and bugs, partnering with QA and Product to verify fixes.
Review your teammates' code and raise clear, well-tested pull requests of your own.
Support deployment, monitoring and troubleshooting of cloud-hosted services on AWS.
Contribute to Agile ceremonies (sprint planning, standups, retrospectives) and keep your work transparent.
Help Product and Customer Success by validating features, reproducing issues and pitching in on release quality.
What we're looking for
3–5 years of professional full-stack development experience, including features you have owned from start to finish.
Solid proficiency with React, TypeScript, Node.js and relational databases such as PostgreSQL.
