Job Description

The Canadian Automobile Association is federation of eight Clubs providing 7 million Members with exceptional emergency roadside service, complete automotive and travel services, Member savings and comprehensive insurance services. CAA also advocates on issue of concern to its Members and all Canadians, including road safety, the environment, mobility, infrastructure, and consumer protection.

We are seeking an intermediate Azure developer to join its dynamic National Office Team. You will work with a group of product managers, developers, analysts, and subject matter experts to build scalable, intelligent cloud-native applications on Microsoft Azure.

This role is remote based within the provinces of Ontario or Quebec with preference for candidates residing in Ottawa, ON.

You will focus on .NET C# full-stack development and embrace vibe coding workflows (using tools like Cursor, Claude, GitHub Copilot, or Azure-integrated agents) to rapidly prototype, iterate, and deliver features through natural language prompting and AI-assisted code generation.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and deploy cloud-native applications and microservices on Azure, prioritizing scalability, security, performance, and coding best practices.
Build full-stack solutions with .NET Core/.NET 8+ APIs/back-ends and responsive front-ends using Angular and/or React.
Work with key Azure services such as App Services, Azure Functions, Azure API Management, Azure SQL/Cosmos DB, Blob Storage, Event Grid/Service Bus, and containers (Docker).
Design, develop, customize, and maintain scalable Shopify apps and integrations, including custom app development using Shopify APIs, webhooks, and Polaris UI.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, design solutions, and implement features.
Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve software defects and issues in both Azure and Shopify environments.
Keep up with relevant Azure updates, AI advancements, and development best practices.
Requirements:

Bachelor's degree or diploma in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
3–5 years of professional software development experience, with at least 2 years working directly with Azure cloud services.
Strong proficiency in C#, .NET Core/.NET 8+, ASP.NET Core, and building RESTful APIs.
Solid understanding of common design patterns (e.g., MVC, Repository) and clean code principles.
Hands-on experience with core Azure services: App Services, Functions, Storage, Databases (SQL/Cosmos), DevOps, and monitoring tools.
Experience with vibe coding or AI-assisted development workflows (e.g., using tools like Cursor, Codex, Claude, GitHub Copilot, or Azure-integrated agents) to rapidly prototype and iterate on AI/ML features.
Proficiency in front-end development using Angular (preferred) and/or React, including TypeScript, component-based architecture, and responsive design.
Good knowledge of web fundamentals: HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript/ES6+, and API consumption (REST/GraphQL).
Experience with Git for version control, agile practices (Scrum/Kanban), and CI/CD workflows (preferably Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions).
Strong problem-solving and debugging skills in cloud environments.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills including building complex prompts in AI development environments.
Azure or AI development certifications are a plus.
Compensation

$74,000 - $80,000 annual salary range
Excellent group insurance benefits
3 weeks’ vacation

Preferred candidates - Hybrid work environment (minimum 1 day if reside in Ottawa/Gatineau)
Fully remote Ontario/Quebec if reside outside of National Capital area.

Pay: $74,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
