Insurance Verification/Authorization Specialist & Front Office Support
Job Description
```Duties```( orientation /training is approximately 2+ mos)
-Accessing Insurance Portals to gather initial Physical Therapy Insurance Verification information, then Calling Insurance Representatives for insurances, to ensure accurate Deductibles (& whether or not, it applies to P. T.), Out of Pocket Maximums, Copays, Coinsurance, Visit Counts, Authorization Requirement (if required or not) and logging this information onto a specific Benefits Call Log Worksheet, which is then scanned into the patient's chart, and the information is also accurately entered and loaded into the TheraOffice EMR. (This & managing Authorizations make up the majority of this role)
-Upon getting Insurance Verification, learning which insurances require Authorization, flagging this on Worksheet, setting task to complete the Authorization process and precisely enter/load information into EMR system.
-Answer phone calls and assist patient, as needed, within your scope, as trained
- Maintain patient records, update information, scan and file
- Manage fax record requests and office tasks, within your scope, as trained
- Handle incoming and outgoing faxes pertaining to Insurance Verification and Authorization
- Greet patients and visitors with a warm and welcoming demeanor
- When covering for Front Receptionist, during vacation/ time off coverage:
will be cross-trained to -switch gears during the time when coverage is necessary, and collect patient co-pays/balances, run credit card machine, answer phones, retrieve voicemails, schedule/cancel patient appointments, gather Intake/Demographic Information for new patients, set up clipboards for next day appointments, Run & check End of Day Reconciliation Report/ manage the front desk, per training/orientation
-Ensure printers are stocked with paper
- Ensure your desk area is clean and organized and tidy up throughout & at end of day
```Experience```
To be successful in this role, you should have the following qualifications:
- Previous experience in a medical or physical therapy office (ABSOLUTE REQUIREMENT)
- Proficiency in using computer/ electronic health record systems and office equipment
- Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively and willing to be trained for efficiency
- Knowledge of medical/ orthopedic/ physical therapy terminology is a plus
