Independent Business Development Contractor
Job Description
This is not a traditional sales-closing position. We do not expect the contractor to design solutions, prepare quotations, negotiate contracts, or close opportunities. Our team will assess the prospective client’s requirements, develop the proposed solution, prepare pricing, and complete the sale.
The contractor’s primary role is to generate qualified, high-interest leads and connect those prospective clients with First Response.
Who We Serve
Our typical clients include:
Medical clinics
Dental clinics
Professional service companies
Commercial and residential buildings
Property management companies
Not-for-profit organizations
Retail businesses
Organizations with multiple locations
We provide services across Canada and welcome opportunities involving businesses, property portfolios, or organizations with offices, clinics, stores, or buildings in multiple cities or provinces.
What We Sell
First Response provides a broad range of technology and building-system solutions, including:
Managed IT support and consulting
Computers, workstations, and related equipment
Servers, cloud services, backup, and disaster recovery
Network design, installation, Wi-Fi, and internet infrastructure
Low-voltage cabling and structured wiring
Cybersecurity solutions
Security and surveillance systems
Access control systems
Intercom and communication systems
Hardware, software, licensing, and related professional services
What Qualifies as a Lead?
We are looking for more than a name, contact list, or cold referral. A qualified lead should involve a business or organization that:
Has a current or upcoming technology, security, or building-system requirement
Has expressed genuine interest in discussing our services
Has agreed to an introduction or meeting with our team
Includes an appropriate decision-maker or influential contact
Your Continued Involvement
Although our team will handle the technical discussions, solution design, quotations, negotiations, and closing process, we believe it is important for the contractor who developed the opportunity to remain involved.
You brought the relationship to First Response, and we want you to continue participating as the opportunity develops. This may include attending introductory meetings, helping maintain communication with the prospective client, providing background on the relationship, and supporting the transition from initial interest to a completed sale.
Your involvement helps preserve the trust that led to the opportunity and provides the prospective client with continuity throughout the process.
First Response will take responsibility for:
Reviewing the prospective client’s requirements
Conducting technical meetings and assessments
Developing the recommended solution
Preparing quotations and proposals
Negotiating the agreement
Closing the opportunity
Completing the onboarding or project
The contractor remains an important part of the relationship but is not expected to provide technical advice or independently close the sale.
Compensation
Compensation is based on successfully introduced opportunities that become First Response clients:
$500 commission when an introduced client signs a support agreement and can transition to our services without requiring an immediate hardware, software, or infrastructure purchase.
5% commission on the total initial sale when hardware, software, licensing, networking, low-voltage, security, surveillance, access control, intercom, or other products and services are required as part of the client’s initial transition or project.
Commission becomes payable once the applicable agreement or project scope has been completed and signed by the new client, subject to the terms of the independent contractor agreement.
A Flexible Opportunity
This opportunity can be approached on either a full-time or part-time basis. As an independent contractor, you determine your own schedule, approach, and level of activity.
The role may be well suited to:
Experienced business development professionals
IT, telecommunications, security, or technology sales representatives
Independent consultants with an established professional network
Individuals with relationships in healthcare, property management, retail, professional services, or the not-for-profit sector
Professionals seeking flexible, performance-based income
Interested applicants are encouraged to apply. We can then discuss our services, ideal client profile, lead-qualification expectations, compensation structure, and how you will remain involved in the opportunities you introduce.
Pay: $18.00-$20.00 per year
Work Location: Remote
