Amazon's Direct Imports Team is looking for an Import Planning Analyst to help transform global supply chains and accelerate business growth.

They will have responsibility for end-to-end business ownership of the import supply chain processes from Manufacturer to Fulfillment Center availability. They will develop innovative inventory management strategies to enhance customer experience, optimise sales and maximise margins.

Direct Imports is a strategic initiative for Amazon with long-term business impact and triple digit growth year on year. This individual will partner with various teams across Amazon (Operations, Global Logistics, Supply Chain Technology, Retail and Finance teams) as well as external partners to support critical new business initiatives and drive continuous improvement in all aspects of our program. The scope of the program includes Hardlines and/or Consumables categories.

The successful candidate is an innovator, communicator, influencer and problem solver who takes a data-driven approach to solving complex problems across our Imports supply chain. The position provides opportunities to influence high visibility/impact areas throughout the organisation.

What you'll bring

Strong analytical skills with experience in forecasting and data analysis
Proven track record in project delivery and relationship management
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment
Excellent stakeholder management and communication
Experience with database management and analytical tools

Key job responsibilities

Support the instock functions with report and analyses including forecasting, ordering, capacity management, instock rates and unhealthy inventory management
Support ISMs on import ordering strategies discussions with the main KPIs to ensure Amazon meets the optimal mix of domestic and import sourcing.
Activities towards buying automation and system auditing
Activities on supply chain optimisation and defects reduction working with operations teams
Report, monitor, analyse and own key performance indicators such as vendor import share, out of stock percentages, vendor lead time, fill rate, unhealthy inventory and forecast accuracy for import selection.

A day in the life

Analyse main KPIs, identify bottle necks and define an action plan to fix it
Build reports to better support the business
Automate repetitive and manual tasks to improve team efficiency
Deliver the goals in POs submitted, POs confirmed, forecasting accuracy

About The Team

The International Expansions team is responsible for helping launch new Amazon marketplaces around the world. Our Global Retail Imports program is focused on working with top vendors through direct imports for emerging countries. Our international team is based in Mexico and Seattle. We work closely with our stakeholder teams in Australia, Mexico, Canada, Singapore, United Arab Emirates and US.

This position is based in Amazon's Sydney office. As of 2025, Amazon has implemented a 5-day in office work model requiring full-time office presence.

Basic Qualifications

2+ years of demonstrated ability to planning and work closely with commercial/finance stakeholders.
2+ years of retail, project management, supply chain, inventory management, sourcing, finance and/or consulting project management experience.
Bachelor Degree or certificate of completion of studies is required.
Analytical skills: proficiency in Excel (macro), SQL, building reports, experience with large amount of data
Fluent in English

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in business with international supply chain/import challenges, preferable in retail.
Experience with direct imports or long mile logistics.
Experience with purchasing or inventory management in e-commerce or retail.
Experience with BI, building reports and dashboards.
Experience working with process improvement techniques such as Kaizen, Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma.
