Job Description

Job Summary

Do you take pride in the details? Are you someone who enjoys leading a team, solving problems, and making sure every guest feels comfortable and cared for?

Holiday Inn Express & Candlewood Suites West Edmonton Mall Area is looking for an energetic, organized, and guest-focused Housekeeping Supervisor to join our team.

As an IHG dual-property operation, we have the unique opportunity to support two hotels under one roof. The Housekeeping Supervisor plays an important role in ensuring our guest rooms and public areas consistently meet the high standards our guests expect.

We're looking for someone who doesn't simply supervise, but leads by example. Someone who notices the little things, takes initiative, is willing to roll up their sleeves and help solve problems, communicates well, stays calm under pressure, and genuinely cares about both our guests and our team.

What You'll Do
• Lead, support, and supervise our Room Attendants, Housepersons, and Laundry Attendants to ensure daily cleaning operations run smoothly.
• Assist with training, coaching, and onboarding new team members on cleaning procedures, safety, and hospitality standards.
• Inspect guest rooms and public areas to ensure cleanliness, presentation, safety, and hotel standards are consistently maintained.
• Communicate room status and discrepancies with Front Desk.
• Take initiative to address minor maintenance issues when possible and within your ability, rather than simply passing problems along.
• Follow up on maintenance concerns to ensure issues are properly communicated and resolved in a timely manner.
• Monitor housekeeping supplies, equipment, and PPE and assist with inventory and ordering as needed.
• Assist with scheduling and staffing to ensure the department is prepared for upcoming days.
• Complete required room inspection, deep-cleaning, and housekeeping documentation.
• Respond to guest requests, concerns, and cleanliness complaints with professionalism and genuine care.
• Ensure team members follow hotel policies, procedures, safety standards, and IHG expectations.
• Promote teamwork, accountability, and a positive work environment within the Housekeeping department.
• Assist with cleaning guest rooms and common areas when needed—we believe our leaders should lead by example.
• Work closely with Front Office, Maintenance, Breakfast, and other departments to provide a seamless guest experience.

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate:
• Has a positive, approachable personality and genuinely enjoys working with people.
• Takes pride in cleanliness, organization, and attention to detail.
• Is a natural leader who enjoys coaching and supporting others.
• Is willing to jump in and help wherever needed.
• Takes ownership of problems and looks for solutions rather than simply passing them along.
• Can remain calm and solution-focused in a fast-paced environment.
• Is dependable, organized, responsible, and takes pride in their work.
• Has excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Is motivated to continuously improve both themselves and the team around them.

Qualifications
• Minimum 1 year of housekeeping or professional cleaning experience.
• Minimum 1 year of leadership, supervisory, or lead-hand experience.
• Previous hotel housekeeping leadership experience is an asset.
• Experience training or coaching team members is an asset.
• Knowledge of hotel housekeeping standards, cleaning procedures, and safety practices is an asset.
• Must be able to communicate effectively in English.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and remain active throughout the shift.
• Weekend and holiday availability is required.

True Hospitality Starts With You

At IHG, hospitality is about more than simply completing a task—it’s about how we make people feel.

We believe in four core service skills:

True Listening – Paying attention to what guests and team members are saying and understanding what they need.

True Responsiveness – Providing what guests and colleagues need in a timely, caring, and professional way.

We believe Everyone is Welcome at IHG. Our team members are encouraged to be themselves, valued for what they bring to the team, and supported in creating a workplace where everyone can belong and grow.

If you're a hands-on leader who takes pride in your work, cares about people, and wants to help create exceptional experiences for both guests and colleagues, we'd love to hear from you!
