Job Responsibilities jobduties of a Sous Chef, along with a mention of handling / tasting meat, including lamb:
• Assist the Executive Chef in managing the kitchen operations
• Supervise and coordinate the activities of junior chefs and kitchen staff
• Plan and prepare menus, including ordering and inventory management
• Prepare and cook dishes, including meats like lamb and beef, to the required standards
• Ensure that all food is prepared and presented to a high standard
• Maintain a clean and organized kitchen, adhering to health and safety regulations
• Monitor and control food costs, minimizing waste and optimizing inventory
• Develop and implement new recipes and menus, including specials and promotions
• Collaborate with other departments, such as front-of-house and purchasing, to ensure seamless service.
