Role Responsibilities
• Coordinate and dispatch loads across a multi-axle / specialized fleet (RGN, lowbed, multi-axle configurations)
• Build and manage daily/weekly dispatch plans in alignment with project timelines and customer requirements
• Act as the primary point of contact for drivers; provide direction, support, and issue resolution
• Ensure drivers are properly prepared for each job (permits, routing, securement, PPE, job details)
• Monitor and enforce Hours of Service (HOS) and log compliance
• Track load progress and proactively manage delays, changes, and customer updates
• Coordinate with Project Managers on execution of complex or multi-piece moves
• Work with the Fleet Maintenance Coordinator to schedule servicing, repairs, and preventative maintenance
• Ensure equipment readiness and optimal fleet utilization
• Review and verify load documentation (BOLs, permits, inspection reports)
• Assist in route planning, including height/weight restrictions and jurisdictional requirements
• Coordinate pilot trucks, escorts, and third-party services as required
• Support cross-border shipments including documentation and communication with customs brokers
• Maintain accurate dispatch records and system updates (TMS / tracking platforms)
• Participate in after-hours/on-call support as required during scheduled rotation
Role Requirements
• 2+ years dispatch experience in heavy haul / specialized transportation
• Strong understanding of oversized/overweight regulations across Western Canada
• Experience with multi-axle configurations, permit planning, and route restrictions
• Working knowledge of Hours of Service (HOS) and compliance requirements
• Experience coordinating maintenance schedules with operations
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent communication skills with both drivers and internal teams
• High level of organization and attention to detail
Assets:
• Experience with cross-border (Canada–US and US domestic) operations
• Knowledge of permitting and routing in multiple jurisdictions (including Texas, Alberta, and surrounding regions)
• Familiarity with TMS/ELD systems (e.g., Isaac, Samsara, etc.)
