We are seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our team at the California Governor's Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES). The successful candidate will be responsible for performing a wide range of mechanical tasks, including constructing, repairing, and maintaining automotive and heavy equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintenance and repair of heavy equipment, including trucks, buses, and emergency vehicles.
Performing routine maintenance tasks, such as oil changes, tire rotations, and brake inspections.
Diagnostics and repairs of complex mechanical systems, including air brake systems and hydraulic pumps.
Instructing and leading apprentices, helpers, and other employees in the performance of mechanical tasks.
Requirements:
Valid California Commercial Driver's License (Class B) with Tank and Air Brake endorsements within six months of appointment.
Possession of or ability to obtain ASE certification for brakes, air brake systems, diagnostics, hydraulic pumps, electrical systems, diesel motor repair, gas engine repair, tires, heavy diesel equipment repair, and fire apparatus repair.
Ability to work overtime as needed.
