We are seeking a highly skilled Health Equity Communications Strategist to join our team at the Center for Health Equity & Community Wellness (CHECW). As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in promoting health equity and reducing disparities in our communities.
About Our Agency
Established in 1805, the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene is the oldest and largest health department in the country. Our mission is to protect and improve the health of all New Yorkers, with a focus on addressing the social determinants of health that impact our communities.
We serve as the population health strategist, policy, and planning authority for the City of New York, with a wide range of programs and services focused on health equity, chronic disease prevention, mental health, and racial and social justice work.
About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to join our team and contribute to our efforts to advance health equity in New York City. As a Health Equity Communications Strategist, you will be responsible for developing and implementing communications strategies that promote health equity and reduce disparities in our communities.
Your key responsibilities will include:
Developing and disseminating communications materials that promote health equity and reduce disparities
Liaising with stakeholders across the agency and community partners to gather information and support for health equity initiatives
Collaborating with subject matter experts to develop and implement communications plans that align with our health equity goals
Ensuring that all communications materials are accessible and culturally responsive to diverse populations
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need to have a strong understanding of health equity concepts and principles, as well as excellent communication and project management skills. You will also need to have experience working with diverse communities and populations, and be able to develop and implement effective communications strategies that promote health equity.
Education and/or experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree from an accredited college and four years of progressively responsible experience in communications, marketing, or a related field. Experience working in a government agency or non-profit organization is a plus.
