Position Overview
Under the leadership and direction of the Registered Nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Psychiatric Nurse as team leaders, the Health Care Aide (HCA) provides support and assistance to residents/patients in Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) as identified in the care plan. The HCA works to full scope of practice and engages in education and certifications to maintain competency. Person-centered care is provided according to established standards of practice, including but not limited to, Accreditation Canada Standards, Personal Care Home Standards, and legislative requirements.

The incumbent exercises the appropriate level of initiative and independent judgment in determining work priorities, work methods to be employed and action to be taken on unusual matters. The position functions in a manner that is consistent with the mission, vision and values; and the policies of Southern Health-Santé Sud.

Sous l’autorité et la direction du personnel infirmier autorisé, du personnel infirmier auxiliaire autorisé ou du personnel infirmier psychiatrique autorisé en tant que chefs d’équipe, l’Aide en soins de santé aide les résidents et les patients qui ont besoin de soutien pour les activités de la vie quotidienne, tel que déterminé dans le plan de soins établi. L'Aide en soins de santé travaille dans tout le champ d'application de la pratique et s'engage dans la formation et les certifications pour maintenir ses compétences. Les soins centrés sur la personne sont fournis conformément aux normes de pratique établies, y compris, mais non de façon limitative, les normes d’Agrément Canada, les normes pour les foyers de soins personnels et les exigences prévues par la loi.

Le ou la titulaire du poste bénéficie d’un niveau d’initiative approprié et fait preuve d’un jugement indépendant pour déterminer les priorités de travail, les méthodes de travail à utiliser et les mesures à adopter pour traiter les questions inhabituelles. Experience
One to two (1-2) years' experience working in a health care setting preferred.
One to two (1-2) years' experience preferably caring for elderly or disabled clients preferred. Read more
