Role Purpose: We are seeking a dynamic and entrepreneurial professional to lead the development of an Accident Health (AH) business in Canada. This exciting role involves building a robust AH portfolio, including: Developing a suite of innovative AH products. Growing and managing a profitable book of business. Establishing and leading a team of skilled underwriters. Product offerings may include Group Travel (corporate and other group travel) as well as various non-corporate Group Accident products. Examples include K-12 Student Insurance, Amateur Youth Sports coverage, Volunteer Insurance, and Day Care Camp coverage, among other participant accident and sickness insurance tailored for the Canadian market. The role involves driving new business growth by building and maintaining strong relationships with retail brokers and agents and supporting the underwriting referral process with our Managing General Underwriting partners. We’re seeking an individual with an entrepreneurial spirit who thrives in dynamic, fast-paced environments. This position presents a unique opportunity to shape the AH business landscape in Canada, leveraging the support of the U.S. AH division. You will lead efforts to diversify distribution channels, strengthen product offerings, and cultivate strategic partnerships. Your contributions will be pivotal in driving shareholder value and expanding the company's presence in the AH market. Key Responsibilities Develop and execute the Canadian AH business plan. Develop and underwrite New and Renewal Business Travel Accident, Out of Country Medical, Mandatory ADD and Voluntary ADD, and other Group Blanket/Participant Accident products (K-12 Student Accident, Amateur/Youth Sports, Volunteers, Day Care/Camps, and other related participant accident groups). Underwriting duties will include developing and negotiating price, coverage, terms and conditions for all new business and renewals. Collaborate with the National Distribution Team to achieve new business goals. Develop and foster strong relationships with distribution partners and other internal Everest stakeholders. Provide excellent customer centric service to brokers through consistent, timely, and proactive and self-motivated approach. Work closely with Home Office/Corporate Underwriting, actuarial, product development, claims and legal teams. Ensure knowledge of and compliance with key regulatory, conduct and risk management responsibilities and ensure contract certainty on cases managed. Take personal responsibility for career development and pro-actively keep up to date with industry and business issues and changes. Candidate Profile Minimum 15+ years of AH underwriting and business development experience. Proven track record of writing and managing Group (Corporate and Participant Accident). Working knowledge of Individual Personal Accident Supplemental Health products a plus. Strong technical/rating acumen in Accident insurance product space. Strong commercial skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities, organize work and meet deadlines. Excellent interpersonal communication skills, both written and oral Customer and sales focused with a good understanding of the local and/or regional AH market.
