About Us
Seaview Marina is owned by the Hutt City Council, known as a Council Controlled Trading Organisation, yet has the freedom to operate as a commercial entity. Seaview Marina is known in the industry as being a fast developing modern, safe and well serviced marina for vessels ranging from 24 metres in length down to trailer sized boats. We offer the most extensive hardstand and haul-out facilities for commercial and pleasure craft in Wellington. Seaview Marina's aim is to provide facilities that are responsive to customer needs and offer a comprehensive range of value for money services in pleasant surroundings. We're now on the hunt for an experienced Hardstand Operator / Dockhand to help build on our excellent reputation of providing great value and service to our customers.
About the role
This is a hands-on, physically active role ideal for someone who thrives in an outdoor, marine environment. As a Hardstand Operator / Dockhand, you'll be responsible for:
Assisting with vessel haul-outs and launches using travel lift and hydraulic trailer equipment
Supporting yard operations including water blasting, vessel positioning, and ensuring safety standards are upheld
Carrying out routine dock checks, helping with mooring and unmooring vessels, and maintaining a tidy, secure marina
Providing excellent customer service to boaties and contractors
Monitoring fuel dock operations and supporting environmental safety protocols
Learning to operate heavy machinery and participating in industry-standard training
This is a full-time role that includes occasional weekend or after-hours work to meet operational demands.
About You
You'll be someone who takes pride in working outdoors, enjoys a physically active job, and brings a strong health and safety mindset. Ideally, you'll have:
A friendly, approachable personality with the ability to build rapport quickly with customers
Strong teamwork skills, paired with the initiative to work independently
Confidence to multi-task and manage time efficiently
A clean driver's licence - and bonus points for any machinery or crane operating experience!
A genuine interest in boating, boat handling, or marine operations
Previous experience in a marina or yard environment is an advantage but not essential - full training will be provided to the right candidate.
