About the Team

Our Water team in Northern Queensland is growing, and we’re excited to offer a fantastic graduate opportunity for an enthusiastic Water Resources Engineer to join AECOM in our Townsville office.

You'll be part of a highly respected, industry-leading team delivering innovative water resources projects across a wide range of sectors—including flood risk management, nature-based solutions, mine water management, water quality assessments, and major infrastructure development.

As a Graduate Water Resources Engineer, you will:

Work alongside experienced engineers, scientists, and planners on real-world projects from day one.
Contribute to a range of projects including flood studies, stormwater management, mine water assessments, and urban water design.
Support the delivery of water sensitive urban design (WSUD), drainage design, and hydraulic modelling for a variety of infrastructure projects.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and gain exposure to both local and national initiatives.
Have the opportunity to get involved in project coordination, report writing, and client engagement, depending on your interests.
Be supported through structured graduate development, including mentoring, technical training, and assistance in working towards CPEng and RPEQ accreditation.

Qualifications

Who we’re looking for:

Final year students or recent graduates with a degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline.
A passion for water resources, sustainability, and solving complex challenges.
Strong communication and teamwork skills, with an eagerness to learn and grow.
You must have completed your studies and have graduated before starting the program.
You must be able to commence work by February 2026. We are open to mid-year finishers who are able to commence by July 2026.
