The Government Relations Lead (Federal) will be responsible for developing and executing strategies to engage with federal government officials and agencies, advocating for Interac's interests, and building effective relationships to advance Interac’s corporate strategic objectives. We are looking for a proactive leader who takes initiative and brings a deep understanding of the Canadian federal government and experience in public policy and government relations. This role will be based in Ottawa and will report to the Head, Government Relations and External Affairs. Key Responsibilities..... Government Engagement: Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy to both build and maintain relationships with federal government stakeholders including MPs, political staff, departmental officials and regulatory bodies. Prepare briefing materials, reports, and presentations for meetings with government representatives, including support for Executive level engagement opportunities. Identify and execute government and stakeholder relations strategies to enhance Interac's visibility with key federal government audiences. Legislative and Regulatory Affairs: Develop and deliver regular briefings on federal government activities including political dynamics, key policy updates and current events to internal audiences including senior executives. Monitor and analyze federal government policies, legislation, and regulations that impact Interac. Support the development of responses to changes impacting the business, working with cross-functional stakeholders. External and Industry Relations: Build relationships with relevant industry associations, advocacy groups, and other external stakeholders to advance Inteac’s business and strategic objectives. Promote Interac through key federal government events, targeted engagement, thought leadership, and meetings. Public Affairs Implement strategies to influence, educate, and inform government and stakeholder audiences, developing presentations, key messaging and content directed at government and stakeholder audiences. Support business development and go-to-market efforts aligned with public sector commercial objectives. Assist with reputation and issue management, providing counsel on public sector risks and working with the broader team to protect corporate reputation. What you bring..... Minimum 8 years of experience in government, government relations, public affairs (required). Experience working with federal elected officials, government departments, agencies, or in a public policy environment is required (required). A mix of government and corporate or agency experience (preferred). Familiarity with financial and payments sector policies, legislation and regulations (preferred). Strong knowledge of the federal political system as well as legislative and regulatory process in Canada. A problem solver who can deal with difficult, changing, or uncertain situations, apply creativity to problem-solving. Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Proactive and self-motivated. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively. Strong written and verbal communication skills Eligibility to work for Interac Corp. in Canada in a full-time capacity.
