Job Overview

We are recruiting for a skilled Government Accounting Expert to join our team. As a key member, you will lead on critical financial reporting activities, including the preparation of complex accounts, balance sheet management, and driving process improvements.

The ideal candidate will have extensive consolidations experience, a strong understanding of complex financial interdependencies, and expertise in Whole of Government Accounts (WGA). They will also have experience in large government departments, ideally HM Treasury.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare complex accounts, including journal adjustments, note production, and financial statements.
Liaise with stakeholders to resolve queries and ensure audit progression.
Provide accounting advice aligned with government frameworks to internal and external stakeholders.
Drive process improvements to enhance efficiency and financial control.
Manage key balance sheet items and support budget management and statutory accounts preparation.
Requirements

Qualified Accountant with extensive consolidations experience.
Whole of Government Accounts (WGA) knowledge and experience.
Experience in consolidations within a large government department, ideally HM Treasury.
Strong understanding of complex financial interdependencies.
Ability to challenge and question effectively.
