Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Accounting Executive to join our team at Remitly. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of US GAAP and the ability to communicate complex accounting issues to both finance and non-finance personnel.
This role will involve overseeing the growing business and driving the automation of related processes. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage and optimize corporate accounting processes are essential for success in this position.
About the Role:
The Senior Accounting Manager will lead the execution of and review of journal entries, results and fluctuations, and reconciliations of general ledger accounts in accordance with US GAAP. They will also develop good working relationships with internal/external stakeholders, regularly interact with business owners and management on accounting matters.
Responsibilities:
1. Directly contribute to the company's growth by managing high-impact financial close processes including overseeing the month-end, quarter-end, and annual financial close processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with tight deadlines.
2. Enhance existing accounting procedures and internal controls, and seek opportunities to improve accounting operational efficiency and effectiveness.
3. Develop good working relationships with internal/external stakeholders; regularly interact with business owners and management on accounting matters.
4. Lead the execution of and review of journal entries, results and fluctuations, and reconciliations of general ledger accounts in accordance with US GAAP.
Requirements:
To be successful in this role, you will need to have:
• A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 8+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or equivalent.
• Big 4 accounting or large regional firm experience required, experience in a public company environment preferred.
