Job Description
We are looking for an experienced screenwriter / promo writer who loves storytelling and understands how content wins on YouTube.
This role is for you if you enjoy drama, twists, bold characters, and emotional turns - and know how to reshape all of that into promos that feel sharp, exciting, and native to the YouTube format.
Your writing will shape thumbnails, titles, short promos, bumper ads and long-form YouTube cuts that make viewers stop scrolling, lean in, and press play.
Key Responsibilities
• Write high-impact promo scripts for microdramas across YouTube formats - Shorts, long-form promos, and compilations - crafting strong hooks, titles, descriptions, and opening lines that clearly establish the core drama.
• Translate complex storylines and character arcs into clear, engaging promo narratives without losing emotional depth.
• Analyse top-performing YouTube promos and audience response to identify effective storytelling patterns, and evolve promo writing by refining tone, pacing, and structure using both creative judgement and performance insights.
• Collaborate closely with video editors, graphic designers, and content teams to ensure copy, visuals, and thumbnails work seamlessly together.
• Stay updated on YouTube trends, audience behaviour, and content formats, and apply these insights creatively to promo storytelling.
What We’re Looking For
• 3–6 years of experience in YouTube-first screenwriting or promo writing for OTT platforms, web series, films, or D2C brands.
• Strong storytelling instincts with a clear understanding of hooks, pacing, emotional beats, and payoff on YouTube, and the ability to turn drama, conflict, and twists into sharp, emotionally engaging, curiosity-driven promo copy.
• A structured, data-aware approach to creative work - comfortable using performance insights to inform decisions and improve output over time.
