Job Description
Overview
Winlock Shell is seeking a dependable and friendly Convenience Store Clerk to join our team. This position combines customer service, cashiering, and food handling responsibilities. Clerks are responsible for assisting customers, operating the register, keeping the store clean and stocked, and serving food items from the hot case.
The ideal candidate is reliable, customer-focused, and able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety.
Duties and Responsibilities
Greet customers promptly and provide friendly, helpful service.
Operate the cash register/POS system accurately, processing cash, card, and digital transactions.
Handle and serve food items from the hot case (such as fried chicken, wedges, breakfast sandwiches, etc.) safely and efficiently.
Monitor hot case temperatures, ensure proper rotation of food, and maintain quality and freshness.
Restock shelves, coolers, and displays to keep the store clean, organized, and well-presented.
Assist with basic food preparation, packaging, and labeling as directed by management.
Maintain sanitation and safety standards in all food handling and storage areas.
Clean counters, equipment, and common areas throughout the store, including restrooms and outdoor spaces.
Handle lottery, tobacco, and fuel sales in compliance with store policies and state laws.
Support inventory management by restocking, receiving deliveries, and reporting low stock or damaged items.
Follow all company policies related to cash handling, safety, and security procedures.
Qualifications
Previous cashier, deli, or food service experience preferred but not required—training will be provided.
Knowledge of basic food safety and handling procedures a plus.
Strong customer service and communication skills.
Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a small team.
Comfortable multitasking in a busy environment and handling food orders quickly.
Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 30 lbs.
Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
