Team Overview
The Digital Experience team is involved in global strategy, specifications, UX/UI design, front-end development, quality assurance, production, marketing metrics, email marketing and support of all Client Group digital experiences for the firm. With 65+ global sites, we continually optimize or sites across multiple devices.
Job Summary
The AB Digital Development team is looking for a lead frontend developer to work closely with business users, business analysts, creative design and back-end development teams to create digital experiences for desktop and mobile platforms. A deep understanding building modern front-end applications using React is a must. The ideal candidate should show extensive experience building scalable and performant web app using modern JavaScript best practices.
As front-end development is half logic and half design, the candidate we are looking for should have a strong understanding of the artistic side of the web: balance, transition, motion, and flow. Candidate should have a strong understanding of mobile first, responsive web patterns and UX/UI design. Familiarity with HTML5, CSS3, SCSS, and cross-browser compatibility is assumed.
Candidate will assist the ongoing planning and development of innovative and interactive functionality which will enhance our AB digital presence. This is a technology position and therefore requires strict code management using GIT. This position specifically requires the candidate to lead a small team through the planning, development, and bug fixing stages of a project (ie end to end support). We are looking for someone with a strong proven record of mentorship and leadership to help grow our team.
Job Description
Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Lead a small team of developers on a project from start to finish
• Engineer and support a wide variety of web pages for our AB website
• Solid understanding of SEO and Accessibility
• Work on front-end development activities, solutions, methods and practices
• Develop new and effective interactive design solutions on time and in scope
• Collaborate to deliver on new business initiatives and platform enhancements
• Assist in developing methodologies, standards and best practices for the group
• Research and recommend new interactive technologies
• Develop reusable code libraries
• Mentor more junior members of the team
• Conduct code walkthroughs and quality assurance with IT team
Required Skills
• 7+ years web-based application development
• 5+ years of experience using React including ContextAPI, hooks, best practices, and unit testing
• Good knowledge of modern JavaScript (ES6+)
• Good knowledge of web libraries, tools and frameworks, such as jQuery, NPM, JSON
• Experience in how to request and process data from rest APIs
• A complete understanding of the complexities of Responsive Web Design
• Experience in creating exciting interactions on the iPad, iPhone and other mobile devices that conform to W3C standards
• Advanced knowledge of using GIT for version control (Azure experience preferred)
• Strong track record with mentoring other members of a development team – both members more senior and more junior
• Task management and clear communication skills are just as important as coding skills
• Bonus: Experience using CMS (Adobe Experience Manager preferred)
