About the Role:
We are seeking fluent Kannada-English speakers for a remote, entry-level telephone interpreter position. This role involves real-time interpretation over the phone, facilitating communication between Kannada and English speakers across a range of industries. While previous experience is a plus, it’s not required—what matters most is your fluency, professionalism, and ability to communicate clearly in both languages.

Location:
This is a remote position. You must work from a quiet, secure space such as your home or a private office, free from distractions. Basic tools like notepads, pens, and access to glossaries or dictionaries are helpful for success in this role.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide accurate, real-time interpretation between Kannada and English speakers while preserving the tone, meaning, and intent of the original message.
Maintain clear and professional communication, with proper pronunciation, grammar, and polite expression.
Understand and use industry-specific terminology (training materials provided) across sectors like healthcare, law, insurance, and government.
Stay calm and composed during high-pressure calls, including emergency (911) situations.
Ensure cultural awareness and neutrality during conversations.
Required Qualifications:

Fluency in both Kannada and English, with strong verbal comprehension and speaking skills.
Understanding of cultural nuances, idiomatic expressions, and context in both languages.
Strong listening, retention, and note-taking abilities.
Ability to stay neutral, objective, and focused in all conversations.
Willingness to follow client protocols and continuously learn and use interpretation resources.
Preferred (but not required):

At least 1 year of interpretation experience.
Educational background in languages, linguistics, interpretation, or a related field.
