Role Description
This is a freelance, on-call role based in Calgary, AB, supporting conferences at the city's leading hotels, convention centres, and event venues. As a Freelance AV Technician, you'll set up, operate, and troubleshoot complete conference AV systems including audio, video, projection, switching, and lighting, and keep them running flawlessly through multi-day, agenda-driven events. You'll work alongside our event teams and interface directly with planners and presenters, so professionalism and a calm, solutions-first presence under pressure matter as much as technical skill.
Because conferences in Calgary run on tight load-in windows and our venues are spread across the city and surrounding area, reliable access to your own transportation is required.

What You Bring
Solid, hands-on command of conference AV systems, confident with setup, operation, signal flow, and maintenance across audio, video, and projection
Strong, fast troubleshooting instincts to resolve technical issues live, without disrupting the room
Experience with video conferencing and hybrid-event platforms for seamless virtual and in-person delivery
Working knowledge of lighting systems and event presentation setups
Proficiency operating and configuring projectors and large-format displays for varied conference layouts
Sharp organizational and time-management skills to keep load-in, rehearsal, and showtime on schedule
Excellent communication and client-service skills, since you represent Red Tree in the room
Reliable access to your own transportation to reach Calgary venues on schedule
Relevant AV or IT technical certifications are an asset
Prior conference or live-event support experience is a strong plus
Pay: $25.00-$50.00 per hour
