Primary Duties of Forklift Operators:
Forklift operators are responsible for operating a forklift to move, locate, relocate, stack, and count merchandise. They load and unload trucks, containers, and other vehicles, and they also receive, inspect, and verify incoming products:
• It is essential to remain diligent and attentive during the loading and unloading process, to minimize possible damage to goods, or harm to those involved
• Utilize the available space by stacking and storing the merchandise proficiently
• Follow directed instructions to move goods from one location to another effectively
• Follow the shipping instructions carefully and double-check for any errors before sending out the product
• Utilize all equipment in a manner that is both safe and efficient, following prescribed methods
• Failure to comply with OSHA and MSDS regulations can result in costly fines and legal liabilities for employers
• Maintain and examine the forklift or other machinery daily to carry out small repairs and adjustments
• It is necessary to keep the warehouse and loading areas uncluttered and well-maintained to prevent any possible safety hazards
• Take part in learning opportunities that focus on broadening understanding of warehouse safety and security regulations
Forklift Operator Requirements:
• Active engagement in the workforce for two to five years
• Fluent English in speaking, writing, and comprehension is indispensable
• One must demonstrate self-motivation and exceptional interpersonal abilities to meet the job requirements
• Skill in performing elementary mathematical calculations, such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, is essential for success in many academic and professional fields
• The ideal candidate will be a highly organized individual with a strong attention to detail
• The possession of a certification for Class IV or Class V Forklifts can enhance an individual's resume
• It is essential to hold a legitimate driver's license and successfully undergo a pre-employment screening procedure that encompasses a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check
