RMH Mental Health Services provides recovery-focused inpatient and community care for adults and older adults experiencing serious mental illness. Our multidisciplinary teams deliver compassionate, trauma-informed and evidence-based care that places consumers, carers and families at the centre of treatment and recovery.

About the Program

Join a two-year structures graduate program designed to support and empower Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander nurses to grow their careers in mental health nursing within a culturally safe, inclusive and supportive environment.

The First Nations Graduate Mental Health Nurse Program combines the well-established RMH Graduate Mental Health Nurse Program with a dedicated RMH-wide First Nations graduate pathway focused on connection to culture, community and professional development.

This two-year graduate program provides:

Structured clinical and academic learning opportunities
Dedicated graduate support and mentoring
Mental health nursing study days and clinical rotations
Support to complete a Post Graduate Diploma or Masters in Mental Health Nursing in Year 2
Opportunities to connect with culture, community and First Nations staff networks
Graduates will also have access to:

Cultural supervision and cultural debriefing
Attendance at cultural events and days of recognition
Opportunities to engage with the First Nations Governance Committee
Support from the First Nations Health Unit and identified First Nations staff throughout recruitment and employment
About You

You are:

An Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Registered Nurse graduate
Passionate about mental health and recovery-focused care
Committed to culturally safe, person-centred practice
Eager to learn and work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams
