Job Description
The candidate will be working on site and this it is not a remote or hybrid role
This is an exciting opportunity to join our busy and fast expanding group of companies for a nationally recognised product manufacturer and supplier within the building industry. The accounts dept is currently run through 3 part-time bookkeepers and overseen by our external accountants. The role is ready for someone dynamic to step into and shape the financial integrity of a forward-thinking business. The successful applicant will then oversee a small accounts team and be responsible for the whole of the accounting operation and provision of robust and continuously improving accounting and management information, across our four companies.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain effective process controls whilst driving process improvements within the team
Managing and mentoring a small team, with scope for future growth
Hands-on involvement in day-to-day financial operations, ensuring operational excellence
Acting as the key point of contact for the group’s management team for any management accounting considerations and implementation work
Working with the four companies to support the group’s objective of consistent and clear financial reporting
Produce monthly management accounts, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
Lead the budgeting and forecasting process, including planning, data collection and execution
Monitor and evaluate financial performance against budgets and forecasts, identifying variances and recommending corrective actions
Liaise with external accountants, ensuring the company's financial practices adhere to statutory regulations and standards
Leading tax reporting, VAT returns, P11D's
Overseeing accruals, prepayments, and fixed asset register
Manage accounts payable and ensure timely processing of invoices
Managing creditors and payments
Manage payroll, pensions and payments
Sales ledger control
Ensure balance sheet reconciliations and all external reporting requirements are complete, accurate and timely
Build and maintain effective relationships with operational teams and other group functions
Requirements
A fully qualified accountant, ACCA/CIMA qualified (or equivalent)
Strong technical knowledge of tax, audit, and financial reporting.
Advanced Excel skills and ERP experience.
A proactive, organised leader with excellent communication skills.
Manufacturing experience is advantageous.
Able to make an impact in a complex manufacturing organisation
People management and leadership experience
Proven ability to drive process improvements and implement change
Commitment to personal and professional growth, with a desire to expand in the role
