Finance/Business Teacher (OSSD & Contest Prep)
Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Business Teacher to inspire and educate students in the fundamentals of business, entrepreneurship, and management. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, a passion for teaching, and the ability to create engaging lesson plans that foster critical thinking and practical understanding of business concepts. The Role
This is not a standard teaching position. We are looking for an educator and mentor who can bridge the gap between academic theory and real-world business application. You will guide high school students through the OSSD curriculum while intensely focusing on financial literacy, marketing strategy, and competitive business skills. A major component of this role involves coaching students for DECA and other top-tier business contests.
Key Responsibilities
Contest Preparation & Mentorship: Lead dedicated training sessions to prepare students for DECA and other premier business case competitions. Coach students on case study analysis, critical thinking under pressure, and role-play execution.
Practical Skill Development: Teach students how to structure, write, and confidently present professional business proposals and pitches.
Curriculum Delivery: Instruct OSSD Business and Finance courses with a heavy integration of real-world financial literacy, corporate financial analysis, and modern marketing principles. Preparing students for business contests.
Interactive Learning: Design immersive workshops, mock-pitches, and simulated marketing campaigns to engage students and solidify complex business concepts.
Assessment & Growth: Evaluate student presentations, provide rigorous, constructive feedback on their pitches, and track their progress in both curriculum and competition readiness.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree and above in Business, Finance, Marketing, Commerce, or a related field.
Experience: * Proven experience coaching, mentoring, or participating in DECA, FBLA, or university-level business case competitions is highly preferred.
Experience teaching or tutoring high school students (OSSD experience is a strong asset).
Practical industry experience in marketing, financial analysis, or entrepreneurship is highly valued.
Skills: Exceptional public speaking, presentation, and pitching skills.
Deep understanding of financial literacy and ability to translate complex financial data for high school learners.
Strong ability to motivate and mentor high-achieving youth.
Certification: Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) certification is an asset, but strong industry experience paired with a passion for teaching will be heavily considered.
Clearance: Vulnerable Sector Screening (VSS) / Criminal Record Check completed within the last 12 months.
