Role Overview The Field Service Engineer (FSE) is responsible for providing on-site technical support, installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance of UB’s automation and smart manufacturing systems. This role plays a critical part in ensuring smooth customer operations, timely issue resolution, and high-quality technical execution across manufacturing environments.
The position requires strong hands-on engineering capability, customer-facing communication skills, and the ability to work independently in fast-paced production settings.
Job Responsibilities
Installation, Commissioning & System Setup
• Execute installation, setup, and commissioning of automation equipment (PLC, sensors, conveyors, robots, WMS/MES-integrated systems, etc.).
• Ensure systems meet customer specifications, safety standards, and operational requirements.
• Perform system testing, calibration, and performance validation.
On-site Troubleshooting & Technical Support
• Respond to customer issues including mechanical, electrical, or software-related alarms.
• Diagnose root causes and perform corrective actions with minimal downtime.
• Escalate complex issues to internal engineering teams when required.
Preventive & Corrective Maintenance
• Conduct scheduled maintenance activities to maximize system uptime.
• Replace components, realign mechanisms, update firmware/software (where authorized).
• Document maintenance activities in service reports.
Customer Management & Communication
• Provide clear and timely updates to clients and internal teams.
• Train customer personnel on operating procedures and safety practices.
• Build trusted relationships with key customer stakeholders.
Reporting & Documentation
• Prepare detailed service reports, root cause analysis, and corrective action documentation.
• Maintain accurate records of tools, spare parts, checklists, and daily service logs.
• Ensure compliance with UB’s GIOP standards, SOPs, and quality processes.
Future Opportunities for Overseas Deployment (China / India)
• Opportunities to support on-site projects, equipment installation, and technical service at customer locations in China or India.
• 3–6 months deployment based on project requirements.
• Special travel allowances, accommodation support, and deployment benefits will be provided.
Job Requirements
• Certificate / Diploma / Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation, Electronics, Mechanical Engineering, or related fields.
• Hands-on experience with:
• Sensors, actuators, motor controls, and industrial panels
• Robotics, conveyors, AMR/AGV systems (added advantage)
• WMS/MES/SCADA integration (added advantage)
• Ability to read electrical schematics and engineering drawings.
• Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills.
• Willing to travel locally and internationally for extended durations (3–6 months).
• Strong communication and customer service mindset.
• Able to work independently and in cross-functional teams.
• Good documentation discipline and compliance with SOPs.
• Fit to work in industrial manufacturing environments.
