Festival Volunteer Coordinator
Job Description
Port Moody Golden Spike Days is actively looking for enthusiastic, energetic individuals to fill the following position: Volunteer Services Coordinator. Port Moody Golden Spike Days Festival runs from June 27th -June 28th. Duration of employment will be from mid May – mid July, 2026.
Position will report directly to the Office Manager and the Director of Volunteers. Position is open to students studying Event Management, Event Planning or Coordination, Volunteer Management. Social Media Management, Website Design and any other equivalent experience is an asset.
Requirements:
Communicate with schools, community bulletin boards, GSD Marketing Director to advertise and search for volunteers for the Festival
Work with Volunteer Director to learn and execute the use of a Volunteer App.
Create Volunteer Spreadsheet to manage volunteer information using Microsoft office
Organizing and directing volunteer orientation sessions prior to Festival
Provides direction and leadership to volunteers during orientation sessions and during the Festival
Creates Volunteer Schedule of Shifts for Festival
Manages volunteers during Festival and directs them to where needed
Ensures volunteers have scheduled water and food breaks
Creates and follows a safe check in and check out procedure for volunteers
Organize food and water for volunteers
Be flexible with work schedule hours during actual Festival days June 27-28, 2026
Must be able to work in a fast paced and deadline sensitive environment.
Ability to work and supervise student volunteers for the festival
Ability to work as a team to coordinate a successful event
Ability to work in a large and crowded environment, with changing weather conditions
Ability to work weekends and evenings as required (festival weekend)
Some knowledge of Event Planning or volunteer coordination an asset
Strong Oral and written communication skills
These are contract positions for 8 weeks and hours will vary between 35-40 hours/week. It is a Canada Summer Jobs position for Youth. You must be 15-30 years of age before the beginning of the employment period and you must be a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident or person to whom refugee status protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Act for the duration of employment.
