Mission Matters is a media and marketing company that helps entrepreneurs, executives, non-profits, and purpose-driven organizations amplify their stories through podcasts, publishing, events, and strategic marketing. Our mission is to create meaningful connections that inspire growth, build communities, and create lasting impact.
Mission Matters hosts over 100 events annually, including approximately 60-70 events throughout the Los Angeles area, ranging from ******** networking gatherings to large-scale conferences and executive events.
Position Summary
Mission Matters is seeking an Events Sponsorship Coordinator/ Associate to drive sponsorship sales and develop strategic partnerships for our growing portfolio of events. This role is primarily focused on business development, sponsorship sales, and relationship management, while also supporting certain aspects of event coordination and sponsor activations.
The ideal candidate is highly entrepreneurial, enjoys networking, thrives in face-to-face relationship building, and is excited to represent Mission Matters throughout the Los Angeles business community. This individual will play a key role in expanding Mission Matters' sponsorship ecosystem and creating exceptional sponsor experiences.
This position is based in Los Angeles and requires regular attendance at Mission Matters events and external conferences throughout the region. Hybrid work flexibility is available on non-event days.
Key Responsibilities
Identify, prospect, and secure sponsorships for Mission Matters events and initiatives.
Drive sponsorship revenue through proactive outreach and relationship development.
Build and maintain long-term relationships with sponsors and strategic partners.
Attend Mission Matters events in Los Angeles and actively network to identify prospective sponsors for future events.
Represent Mission Matters at conferences, networking events, and industry gatherings throughout the Los Angeles region.
Create customized sponsorship proposals, presentations, pitch decks, partnership packages, and supporting marketing materials.
Maintain an organized sponsorship pipeline and keep CRM records updated with sponsor contacts and activities.
Manage sponsor communication and ensure all partnership deliverables are fulfilled before, during, and after events.
Collaborate with the marketing team to promote sponsors across digital, social media, email, podcast, and event channels.
Support event planning, logistics, onsite sponsor activations, and post-event reporting as needed.
Help negotiate sponsorship agreements and support the contract process.
Work closely with internal teams to ensure sponsors receive an exceptional experience.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, Event Management, Public Relations, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
Minimum of 2 years of experience in sponsorship sales, partnerships, business development, event sales, event management, or marketing.
Must be based in the Los Angeles area and able to attend frequent in-person events.
Proven ability to build relationships, manage client accounts, and close partnership opportunities.
Strong networking skills and the ability to comfortably engage with executives, entrepreneurs, investors, and business leaders.
Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, and organizational skills.
Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Experience with CRM platforms (HubSpot, Salesforce, or similar) and Microsoft Office or Google Workspace preferred.
Self-motivated, proactive, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Preferred Experience
Experience working with events, media companies, startups, investors, family offices, or executive communities is a plus.
Existing network within the Los Angeles business community is highly desirable.
Experience creating sponsorship proposals, partnership presentations, and marketing materials is preferred.
Compensation & Benefits
Base Salary: $3,000-$4,500 per month, based on experience.
Uncapped commission with additional performance-based earning potential.
